Being Changed…this song is by a group called dilerious. The words to the chorus are:

Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands
Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty…

We are changed by our Gods love. All the other things, such as whether i agree on some theological point with my brother in christ or where I “should” or “want” to go to church, or whether__________. Fill in the blank with your own reasons. We are changed by our God’s love if we change our focus from our needs/wants/desiresput and look to others with God’s love will these other (HUGE) issues fade into the background? I think they will.

I have been thinking a lot about our membership and those that have “moved on” to other churches. In my reading online I came across a quote that seems to hold a lot of truth in relation to membership in a new church and relationships in general.

One pastor put it this way: “In the first two years of a new church, the church can’t do anything wrong (the honeymoon period). In the third and forth years, the church can’t do anything right (brass tacks time). By the fifth and sixth years, either you leave, other people leave who think you can’t do anything right, or you change, or they change, or you both change. By the seventh year, you start to really get productive.”

Looking at our role in church is something very important. If we just show up get served and come back the next Sunday what are we really doing. Would your Sunday morning look any different than if you went to a movie with some friends???

If we strive to work toward that “unattainable” seventh year. The year of change. We will have purpose, we will be growing spiritually, growing closer together and most important of all closer to GOD.

Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands
Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty…
